Faith is Key

This week has been full of surprises.
The Area Elder of the Seventy came to the CCM for a fireside. It was soo good because he talked straight from the spirit. Something that I really liked that he shared was to do something that will allow God's grace into our lives. This is so great beacuse it applies to everybody.   When we show our dedication to Heavenly Father in our everday lives we will recieve help.

This reminds me of Alma 14:24-26. Now Alma and Amulek are in a pretty sticky situation. Their prayer to God is something that we should all think about. They ask for strength according to their faith. Our faith is key for desired change. I see this daily here at the CCM. I need to have faith in every lesson and I need to have faith that I can do all things with Christ.

Some facts about this week:
1. There were 170 new missionaries
2. Mi compa and I made a new little friend in the laundry room. I picked up a bag and this mouse fell out. I LITERALLY lept into my comps arms.
3. There is a major plague here at the CCM. Just kidding!  It's the flu but everyone is catching it! I wash my hands every 2 seconds.
4. Our maestro Hermano Weber got confused and used the hermana restroom. 2 Hermanas that live in our casita saw his shoes and determined they were either man shoes or really ugly women shoes.
5. Guys dearelder.com is super cool and free. You type up a letter and I get it that same day!

I hope you all have a great week!

Stubborn Weeds

Hola! I have officially completed my 3rd week at the CCM. This won't be very long but here are few thoughts that are happening in this crazy Hermana´s brain. A Hermana from my district shared this story:

"I saw a man watering his weeds. As I was watching him I thought how often do I water my own weeds? Why do I let some little things grow when I need to tend to the things that actually have eternal value?"

How often do we water those pesky little faults, past transgressions, and regrets?  The resulting despair affects our potential growth.

Something that helps me a lot is a verse in Moroni 9:25.  Moroni is talking to his son about Jesus Christ and his Atonement for all mankind. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that Christ has gone to the lowest of the low so he can be the safety net that catches us, if we accept his Atonement. We can comprehend the word of the Lord by diligent scripture study and sincere prayer. We have weaknesses and we sometimes use our agency to sin but He ALWAYS reaches out when we have fallen. How selfless is that?

I guess what I'm saying is that Christ has already done the suffering. All we have to do is use the Atonement and get to work. I'm grateful for the tender mercies of the Lord and the opprotunity I have to share this wonderful truth.

I would like to invite you all to spend a little more time with the Lord through prayer. I testify that when you sincerely pray you will be able to feel Heavenly Father´s love for you and you will recieve the promptings you need in your life because He loves you and wants to help!

Learning the Language of the Spirit

I can't believe I've been here for 2 weeks! Whoever said the days go slow and the weeks go fast is so right. The CCM (Missionary Training Center) has been such a blessing. The Spirit is so strong here! Mi compaƱera is Hermana Hemming. She is so funny and works so hard. So basically a Madeline 2.0 She is also heading to Puebla North and so are 5 other Hermanas in my district. We also have 2 more living with us in our casita. I love my district and they are such a testament to me that being yourself is so important when you're on the mission. We´re all different but we all have one purpose which is to represent Jesus Christ and find his lost sheep.

Wondering how the Spanish is?.. es bueno. I now officially don't speak english, I speak spanglish. I think one experience I had really describes my opinion. Our first lesson with our progressing investigator  was a great learning experience. During the lesson it was clear the my companion and I both have different strengths and weaknesses with Spanish. I felt like I could understand but couldn't fully express my thoughts. We both got super frustrated in our inadequacies and I think that drove away the spirit. After our lesson we talked about what went wrong and reminded each other that even though we are on missions we are not the ultimate teacher, the spirit is.

This reminded me of a story of Paul in 1 Corinthians 2:1 where he was recently converted and newly called to be a teacher of the word of God. He describes his feelings of inadequacy but has faith that the spirit is the true teacher. As missionaries set about the work we have to remember that we are a tool in the box, not the whole tool box. I'm so grateful to represent Christ and carry his name. This is such a special time! I'm also grateful for horchata Wednesdays :) I hope you all have a great week!
